(This is a recap of the June 14, 2025 board meeting. Official minutes will be presented for approval at July 2025 meeting.)
The Board discussed the concerns with the operation of the new well and hoped to have the Cass County Drain Commissioner at the meeting to answer questions. However, it was noted that he declined an invitation to attend the meeting. The board continues to work with EGLE and the county to have matters settled, so the pump can become operational once again. A resident who lives adjacent to the new well spoke about the concerns she has with the algae and water quality. It was explained to her that the association paid three separate companies to test the water quality and all three agreed the water quality is good. The board will continue to monitor the concerns once the well is turned back on.
A resident inquired about whether there would be a 2nd annual corn and sausage roast this summer. Rick Marneris said the association would be agreeable to providing funding, but to date, no one has stepped forward with an interest in coordinating the event. If there is anyone who would like to chair this event, or serve as a volunteer, please send an email to barronlakeassociation@gmail.com and everyone would be put in contact with each other.
Weed treatment: It was reported that the inspection of the lake showed a total of 1 ¾ acres will need treatment and that will be done on Wednesday, June 18. Remember that if your immediate area is treated, you will have a sign posted on your beach. You are asked to follow directions on the sign.
Howard Township Supervisor Bill Kasprzak said the township is going to be more aggressive toward the blight issues in the township, and said especially with the homes that have “blue roofs” (tarps).
He also said the township will no longer be hosting Dumpster Days. Too many people were filling up trucks and dropping off at the site, causing chaos. Instead, Howard Township residents can pick up a voucher (ID showing residency is required) at the Township Hall. For more details, see the Howard Township website.
The board publicly thanked the Howard Township Fire Department for the use of their building for our summer meetings. Association member Paul Nelson made a motion to donate $100 per meeting to the fire department to show our gratitude. Motion was seconded and passed by the membership present at the meeting.
Where can we find the full meeting meetings/information (such as treasure’s report and any other items presented at the meeting? Seems like this info should be fully available to BLA members.
What was posted was a synopsis of the meeting, not official minutes–just a recap for those who couldn’t be there. Full meeting minutes are posted on the website immediately after they are approved at next meeting.
