Secretary Debbie Floor read minutes from June 14, 2025 meeting. Motion was made and minutes were approved with one correction.
Treasurer Jim Muckerheide reported there is $55,630 in the account: $12,681 in checking account, $627 in PayPal account and $42,322 in CD, which renews on July 20 and will be rolled over. Membership is now at 99 members.
VIce President Tom Hable reported the next weed inspection will be on Tuesday, July 15. Treatment is usually done within 7-10 days after inspection. If your property will be treated you will have a bright neon sign posted on your beach.
Tom asked the membership if they wanted to restock the lake with fish. The DNR only allows us to do this every other year and will only allow 800 fish and only walleye. No other fish allowed at this time. Tom will get the price and report back at the August meeting. A vote will be taken by the members present at the meeting. In the past, it has been thousands of dollars to stock. If the membership votes to restock, it will be done in the fall.
Tom said the permit to repair the boat launch has been approved by the county, but he does not know when that will happen.
Fred Fornell gave an update on the augmentation well saying every document EGLE has asked for has been provided, and in some cases some of them have been provided more than once. There are now four items EGLE has agreed they need and Fred said all of those documents have been provided (again some more than once). He and others continue to keep in contact with the Cass County Drain Commissioner, EGLE representatives to move this forward and get the well running again.
President Rick Marneris noted that the board elections will be held at the Aug. 9 meeting, immediately following the regularly scheduled meeting. Anyone who would like to nominate someone, or themselves, should send name and some background information to Tom Hable at THable4337@aol.com. Prior to the election, the association will publicize names of all nominations received.
A discussion was held regarding the association making donations to the two families who hold the fireworks displays every 4th of July. Members noted they believed that the association should not make a donation on behalf of the association, but asked that the association get contact information for the two families and publicize how members can donate personally. The association will do that.
There was also discussion on muskrats and the damage they are causing to personal property at people’s homes—boats and floats. A representative from a local company that specializes in animal removal is scheduled to speak at the August meeting.
Rick Marneris noted that at the last meeting, people inquired about whether or not there will be another picnic this year. He said Debby Koulentes has agreed to chair this event and it will be a barbeque. She is looking at Aug. 23, from 4-8 p.m. and has secured a DJ to provide music. This year’s event will be open to current association members only—and their immediate family. Several people have come forward to offer their assistance in cooking, bringing a side, salad or dessert, and getting door prizes. Debby has put together a committee and will be meeting next week to iron out the details. An invitation will be emailed to all current members. There are some current members whose email addresses we don’t have and a paper invitation will be delivered to their homes. The board approved a motion to host the event with a budget not to exceed $3,000. Last year’s budget was $3,000 and the final cost was closer to $1,700.
Thanks for all the hard work of many!
