The May meeting was called to order at 7pm with three officers present, President Bruno Eidie’s, Treasurer Jan Thompson, and Secretary Cheryl Wilks. Thirty three members were present along with two guests. The guests were Sherry Wozniak the Howard Township Clerk, and Bruce Campbell the Cass County Drain Commissioner.
The Treasurer’s reports from October 2013 through April 2014 were approved as read. In October we had a total of $24,632.72 in the treasury. In April we had a total of $41,084.15. We were reimbursed by the township for the weed control we paid for last fall.
We discussed having a boat parade this year. Heather Shelby will organize the parade. A motion was made by Larry Forsey to have the boat parade on August 9th. Lee Lawson seconded the motion and it was carried.
Heather Shelby talked about creating a website for the association. Judy Deutcher will ask Brian and Deb Floor if they will give up the name of Barron Lake so it could be used for the website. Lee Lawson made a motion to have Heather create a website and Pat Kelly seconded the motion. It was carried.
Bruno told us that the main pumping station is having scheduled maintenance done. The money to pay for the maintenance is coming from the sewer fund.
Bruno reported that the lake level on October 30, 2013 was 753.37’. As of May 12th the level was 754.88’. The legal limit is 756.5’.
Bruce Campbell told us that Dr Li feels he doesn’t have enough data yet regarding the lake level. He wants to test again this summer instead of giving us a report with recommendations. Dr Li will have a proposal to Bruce within a week stating what he wants to do this summer.
We discussed whether or not we should run the pump this summer. Mike Seward made a motion to do whatever Dr Li says we should do. Larry Sehy seconded the motion. It was carried.
A discussion happened about whether or not we should try to sue the original company about the flawed study for the well. Marty Scott will look for an attorney that does that kind of work. He will find out about the cost and if it is too late to take action.
Mike Seward made a motion to close and it was seconded by Pat Kelly.
Respectfully Submitted,
Cheryl Wilks, Secretary
