A number of lake residents have voiced their concerns regarding boating safety practices on the lake as well as noise levels.
We ask everyone on the lake to be courteous to their neighbors when it comes to noise levels–especially late at night with loud music. Keep in mind that while some people are guests for a few days or a week–many are full-time residents that do need to get up in the morning for work.
Music is a big part of summer fun–but when making your outdoor music selections, please keep in mind there are many younger families on the lake with small children and longtime residents who now have grandchildren spending time here. The complaints I’ve received revolve around not only the noise level, but the profane and vulgar lyrics. Bottom line–please be respectful of your neighbors.
As for boating and water safety–I’d like to remind everyone Barron Lake rules regulations follow those in force for the state of Michigan. While most of those on the lake do follow these rules, we sometimes have people new to the lake or visiting for a short time who may not be aware of the rules. We have on our website the entire brochure from the state and have created a shortened version with some of the rules and laws that would mostly pertain to a smaller lake like ours. You can find them below. And to the homeowners who rent their homes to guests, please print the shortened version and post inside your home so your guests are aware of the rules and laws, and can have a safe visit.
Thank you.
