The Cass County Board of Commissioners is sponsoring a Hazardous Waste and Tire Collection on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cass County Road Commission building, 340 N. O’Keefe St., Cassopolis. The event is open to Cass County residents only. No appointment is necessary.
The first 300 lbs. of hazardous waste is free. After 300 lbs, it will be $1.74 per pound. Electronics, appliances, metal items and anything steel will be accepted at no charge. Proof of Cass County residency is required.
Among the accepted items: aerosols, batteries, oven cleaners, brake fluid, engine cleaners, passenger tires, model paints, rust remover, varnishes, wood stain, fertilizers, disposable propane cylinders (less than 20 lbs.), lighter fluid, and swimming pool chlorine.
Among the items NOT accepted: major appliances, air conditioners, fireworks, used motor oil, propane tanks larger than 20 lbs, and semi or tractor tires.
