Officer Reports postponed to accommodate a guest speaker; fill-in found for meeting minutes.

New Business

10:03 a.m. – meeting called to order by Bruno Eidietis and introduced guest speaker Blane Hillman of Pinecrest Industries, the chemical vendor currently engaged by BLA to treat under water weeds on Barron Lake.

Mr. Hillman explained the current weed treatment program and the process used, discussed various weeds, the moderate infestation of curly weeds, spot treatment of milfoil mid-May and late June, weather influences on weed growth, anticipated more extensive weed treatment next year. He also reiterated the relationship of Pinecrest to Restorative Lake Sciences (RLS) as separate contractors engaged by BLA to work together to addressed lake issues.  Mr. Hillman addressed questions regarding algae and treatment of algae with CuSO4 and the state prohibition regarding treatment of non-invasive weeds in water deeper than 5’.  Mr. Hillman advised on the impending problems of invasive macro algae starry stonewort which other nearby lakes are now seeing. Members are asked to contact BLA liaison Tom Hable with any weed or algae concerns.

Old Business

10:40 a.m. – Bruno Eidietis discussed e-mail address accuracy, updates and new members; no meeting will be scheduled for 2019 until an expected report from RLS is available; lake depth down 11” even though ground water is still at a 25 year high; pump is running.

10:48 a.m. – Tom Hable reported on options for stocking the lake with fish: walleye has a limit of 800, perch and crappie have no limits, hybrid blue gill are not allowed.  A motion was made and passed by a majority to purchase 800 walleye in November of this year.

10:52 a.m. – Bruno Eidietis thanked committees, members and volunteers for their support and involvement in all the activities and committees.

10:53 – motion made and passed unanimously to end meeting.
