Conversations are continuing over the use of wake boats, especially on inland lakes. We came across two articles published in in Lakefront Lifestyle Magazine in May 2022, that discuss this subject.
The latest information we have is that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was requested by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the state of Michigan to assemble information on damage to lakes from wake boats.
As of this writing, no decision has been reached or ruling made regarding future use of wake boats.

I think it needs to be pointed out that the woman who wrote the article about “facts and myths” regarding wake boats Is the executive directory of the Michigan boating industry Association. I’m thinking that it would be hard to find a less biased opinion regarding wake boats. Also, None of the Michigan State representatives or DNR personnel that I have contacted can locate any legislation or even official discussions taking place at this time. They all say that wake boat bands and regulations should be handled at the township or lake association level.
