What's New|

The restaurant/bar on Lake Shore Drive may have changed hands several times, but the newest owners have generated a heightened excitement about having a great place to dine and socialize right here in our community.

The new owners, who are Barron Lake residents, purchased the Barron Lakeside Bar and Grill in early May and will celebrate with a soft opening on Saturday. They and a crew have been feverishly undertaking major renovations.

In addition to extensive deep cleaning of the restaurant from top to bottom, they restored the wood floor to its natural beauty, painted the walls, removed booths that lined the wall as you enter, replaced all of the kitchen appliances with modern, state-of-the art equipment, updated the bar with corrugated metal, brought in new serving pieces and plates, utensils and glasses, added new tables and chairs, and updated the bathrooms with stylish tiles and new fixtures. And…a new menu!

To see what they’re serving, learn more about their hours, and watch the updates as they unfold, follow Barron Lakeside Bar and Grill on Facebook.

We wish them well!

Editor’s note: The restaurant/bar was first opened around 1900 by William Rutledge, who called it Rutledge’s Resort. Roughly 20 years later, Paul Hass and his wife, Jessie, purchased the business and called it the Hass Resort, which remained a family business until 1965. It was then sold and became The Hide-Away Lounge until it was sold in 2018. It reopened as Wegner’s Lakeside Bar and Grill and was sold in 2023. The new owners in 2023 called it Barron Lakeside Bar and Grill. In 2026, it was sold again to Barron Lake residents Pam Durkin and her husband, Mike Gross, who remodeled the business and kept the name Barron Lakeside Bar and Grill.
